CHILDCARE FACILITY
CONSTRUCTION OF CHILDCARE FACILITY IN NEUBIBERG 2013
A three-room crèche with 36 childcare places was planned for the Bundeswehr University site in Neubiberg. The angular structure characterises the outdoor space with its different volumetric features. With projecting and recessed entrances, it shapes both the public space of the university campus and various green areas. The group rooms and bedrooms face east towards the garden to create a quiet and light-flooded environment for the children. These rooms are accompanied by a supply corridor, which is broken up with a cross-reference to the west side, enabling clear and functional access. In the southern forecourt area, close to the main entrance, are the management offices, staff rooms, the kitchen and other ancillary rooms, which ensure efficient and clear organisation. The building is a solid timber construction with glulam elements, which enables complete prefabrication and significantly shortens the construction time. Inside, the natural wooden surfaces remain visible and characterise the warm and inviting atmosphere of the crèche. The use of natural materials and high energy efficiency are key elements that provide a harmonious environment for the care and development of the children.
